The “Arrival” Sculpture Arrives

Our permanent art installation titled “Arrival” made its grand entrance by crane this past July. This 18-foot formed bronze sculpture was created by Essex-based sculptor and artist Chris Williams. Meant to symbolize the journey and “Arrival” to the city of Boston, this sculpture welcomes guests as they arrive for their stay at the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton.

Arrival” is meant to be a nod to the maritime history of the area — like a drop of water splashing into the harbor from an anchor. This giant anchor is made of solid cast glass, which is surrounded by the swirling energy of ocean waves created and formed bronze with a blue patina finish reaching upward like a giant water splash. The anchor is lit from within which creates an inner glow that fills the forms with light and invites a closer look.

Williams is very excited to have created something for public curiosity and hopes to build the excitement of coming to Boston to explore.
